Seeking 1-2 CM roommates - house in Petworth

edited March 2023 in Housing

Hello! Our house of 5 has 2 rooms opening up at the end of April. We are all Christian guys, age range 30-25, and enjoy various activities including running, hiking, cooking, having friends over, lawn games such as spikeball, and playing music. We would prefer to live with someone who is also hoping to grow in their Christian faith. With our current lineup, 3 guys attend The District Church and 2 guys attend Grace DC – Downtown. We are concluding our first year of living together and have benefitted tremendously from each other’s company and friendship. As much as we’d love to keep our current roster, 2 guys are getting married, and therefore will be leaving when our lease comes up for renewal at the end of April. We are hoping to find two guys to fill the big shoes that they are leaving.

About the house: The house is situated on an awesome corner lot in a quiet part of the Petworth neighborhood of DC. While very residential, we're only about an 8-minute walk to the Georgia Ave Metro stop (Y/G line) and grocery stores, plus about a 3-minute walk to a Bikeshare station. There’s also a small neighborhood market across the street from us for quick snacks and grocery needs. Parking is incredibly easy, with unrestricted zones on both sides of the house and open spots every time of the day and night. The house has a HUGE yard (seriously, it's massive) and we're hoping to turn it into a fun gathering space for the summer, including outdoor furniture. It's also got a very solid kitchen with granite countertops, huge TV area, and a half-wraparound patio outside, all of which we intend to use frequently. There are a ton of windows providing abundant light. Utilities usually come out to about $100 pp/per month, split evenly.

About Room #1: This room is spacious with a big window providing great natural lighting in the house and a standard-sized closet. You would share a bathroom with our housemate Chip, who has the room next door (it's a jack-and-jill bathroom setup). There is enough room for a queen bed and a desk. Additionally, the outgoing roommate will not need most of his furniture and is willing to sell it to the next guy, so this room can come with as much or as little furnishing as you’d like. This room rents for $ 950/month.

About Room #2: This room is on the ground floor of the house, also with a large window and good natural lighting. It’s a bit smaller, but does contain a closet, and the current roommate has a desk, double-bed, and small dresser in it. There is a half-bath on the ground floor, and you would share the full bathroom with our roommate Sam, who lives on the third floor. (This bedroom was originally a living room that the landlord walled off to create an extra bedroom.) This roommate is also looking to sell his furniture to the next guy. This room rents for $ 795/month.

About you: We'd hope to have our fourth and fifth roommates be someone who wants to do more than just coexist with us, who cares about their neighbors, and who is down for the occasional house hiking trip or woodworking project in the backyard. We also try to get a house dinner on the calendar every few weeks. If this sounds appealing, please reach out so we can chat more!

Logistics: Each of us has a $1,000 security deposit from when we moved into the house (approximately one month’s rent split five ways). You would need to purchase your interest in it from the outgoing roommate. Our lease is up for renewal at the end of April, which is when the outgoing roommates will vacate. However, finding a good fit is important to us, and we don’t want the dates to be an automatic deal-breaker. Therefore, feel free to reach out even if your desired dates do not align perfectly, and we can attempt to negotiate a mutually beneficial solution. We look forward to chatting with you! Additional photos of the rooms are available upon request.
