Atlantic Media

Outreach Assistant, Ballast Research

National Journal Group - Washington, DC - Full Time

Ballast Research is a research and consulting firm that helps government affairs professionals build, deepen, and advance their advocacy efforts at the federal and state levels.

As a foundation of our work, we survey and conduct interviews with policymakers to understand their perceptions of our clients’ advocacy efforts.

We’re seeking an Outreach Assistant to support our work and continued expansion, by executing the email outreach we do to secure our many survey responses and interviews. In addition, Ballast is eager to welcome someone who embodies our values of spirit of generosity and force of ideas, and who wants to contribute to our supportive, collaborative work environment.

The Outreach Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Uploading outreach lists and sending large-scale emails through Qualtrics, mail merge, and other email marketing platforms (no HTML experience required)
  • Proofreading email language and auditing specifications before emails get sent
  • Maintaining and updating databases of policymaker information
  • Responding to inquiries about the research and communicating with prospective respondents
  • Scheduling phone interviews between policymakers and Ballast’s team of Analysts
  • Identifying, contacting, and following up with key interview targets
  • Tracking outreach efforts and processes
  • Completing other outreach tasks as assigned, including locating policymaker directories, gathering information from public websites, and compiling relevant information

Competitive candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Careful attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in an administrative role, or doing administrative tasks
  • Experience with email outreach and/or marketing
  • Experience maintaining and updating databases
  • Experience cleaning, sorting, and summarizing data in Excel
  • Proficiency in balancing and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Comfort working in a self-directed way
  • Strong communication skills

Company Values:
Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two “pillar gifts” in its candidates.  In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions.

Force of Ideas - Atlantic Media seeks a discipline and rigor of thought as manifested, often, in exceptional academic performance and, later, success in a professional environment.

Spirit of Generosity - Equally, Atlantic Media seeks what we term a spirit of generosity – a natural disposition towards service and selfless conduct.

Atlantic Media is an EOE of Minorities/Women/Vets/Disability.
