Looking for a 1/bd or studio private entry near Capital Hill or Dupont Circle

I am looking to rent an apartment near capital hill with high amenities near Capitol Hill or Dupont Circle.  I want a separate entrance if it is in a home.  I would prefer one friendly to an older Cocker Spaniel.  I am a teacher and otherwise enjoy the atmosphere around the Capital.  Solid rental history and responsibility offered.  I would prefer all expenses to be below $1300/month.
