Finance Manager

FINANCE MANAGER

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW), a non-profit now in its 45th year, seeks a full-time Finance Manager. CHAW offers arts education for children and adults across all arts disciplines. Grounded in its mission of building community through the arts, CHAW provides a nurturing, safe environment to access the arts and to build community, confidence and creativity for all ages. In addition to arts classes, CHAW maintains a black box theatre, open dark room, private music instruction, and works with partners to extend its mission beyond its walls. A robust tuition assistance program makes the arts possible for those who might not otherwise be able to access them. CHAW employs 10 full-time staff and 40 part-time teaching artists. The Finance Manager will be involved in CHAW’s management and will help ensure CHAW’s sustainability. The best candidates will have an interest in working collaboratively, bringing cohesion and support to our arts spaces and programs. The Finance Manager reports to the Executive Director. 

 Responsibilities include:
Management of accounts payable, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, and cash receipts.
Oversight of payroll Works with the office administrator on all vendor contracts
Oversight of building and office functions Management of all account collections
Responsible for filing all financial and business reports, ie. solicitations, sales tax, permits, etc
Preparation of month-end closing entries
Generates regular, monthly financial statements, cash flow projections, and specific reports for the Board of Directors and Executive leadership
Tracks grant expenditures and prepares grant reports
Prepares reports and information for annual audit and submittal of IRS Form 990
Updates financial procedures for financial controls manual
Management of short- and long-term working capital and operating reserve
Partners with executive leadership to prepare budget and cash-flow projections
Supervises bookkeeper, office administrator and payroll specialist
Attends and participates in finance committee and Board meetings 

Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 3 years experience in non-profit financial management
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements, budgets, and other related documents
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Thorough knowledge of nonprofit accounting and GAAP, including trends for new models Interest in the arts and in arts administration 

Salary:$45,000, 40 hours/week
