Social Worker- Homelessness

Open Arms is looking for three experienced social workers licensed in the District of Columbia to help launch their newest permanent supportive housing program. The best candidates will have experience working with adults with mental health and substance use disorders within the Harm Reduction model.

WHAT WE NEED

In order to launch our new scattered site permanent supportive housing program, we will hire three Social Workers licensed in the District of Columbia with experience in providing case management and/or housing placement support to adults experiencing homelessness.

RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE

-        Assisting clients to secure and maintain housing using a voucher

-        Maintaining service plans and other documentation for each resident

-        Coordinating additional support services including medical, mental health, substance use, employment, day programs, food supplement programs etc. 

-        Collaboration with other people providing support to or important to the resident.

QUALIFICATIONS

-        Masters in Social Work with an active license (LG or LICSW) in the District of Columbia

-        Experience in the mental health and/or homelessness field

-        Excellent oral and written communication skills

-        Knowledge of community resources

HOURS OF WORK

This position is full time (40 hours/week) with occasional evenings or weekend hours required to support residents needs or organization events. Most work hours are completed in the field and reliable transportation is a requirement of this position.
