Web & Digital Marketing Manager

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) seeks a passionate, hardworking, detail-oriented Web & Digital Marketing Manager who is excited to promote the work of a mission-driven organization supporting the cause of Christian higher education. The Web & Digital Marketing Manager position is responsible for the management, development, metrics and strategy surrounding the CCCU website, social media accounts, email marketing and other digital media platforms. As the position is significant in the CCCU’s communications efforts, the successful candidate will need to stay current with CCCU audiences, business strategies, and marketing initiatives.

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities is a higher education association of more than 180 Christian institutions around the world. With campuses across the globe, including more than 150 in the U.S. and Canada and nearly 30 more from an additional 18 countries, CCCU institutions are accredited, comprehensive colleges and universities whose missions are Christ-centered and rooted in the historic Christian faith. Most also have curricula rooted in the arts and sciences. The CCCU’s mission is to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education and to help our institutions transform lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth.

Core Responsibilities:

Website Management (CCCU.org and BestSemester.com)

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the CCCU and Best Semester websites
  • Manage templates and styles to ensure consistent styling across platforms and browsers
  • Work closely with members of the communications and Best Semester teams on website projects of various scales, including daily updates/refreshing of content and design of new pages & templates
  • Serve as liaison and primary contact for outside vendors and contractors, including third-party website developers. Work with vendors to create and implement new functionality as needed to accommodate organizational needs.
  • Implement industry-standard maintenance and updates to ensure website infrastructure is up-to-date and secure
  • Troubleshoot website and integrated application issues and work towards their quick resolution
  • Utilize web analytics and create and implement plans to drive conversions, improve visitor interactions, and optimize performance of CCCU web properties and evaluate ROI for all initiatives.

Digital Marketing (CCCU)

  • Create and implement an overall social media strategy for Facebook and Twitter with the goal of increasing audience engagement, curating dialogue, and positioning the CCCU as a thought leader in the public square. Connected duties include posting on a daily basis and coordinating with the communications team to share out press releases, news stories, policy statements, etc.
  • Develop attractive branded email templates and design/upload/send emails through MailChimp and/or iMIS (the CCCU’s main CRM) to communicate with members, provide policy updates, promote conferences and events, etc. Oversee implementation of monthly email schedule for the CCCU using a data-driven approach to more effectively target and send emails on behalf of the organization.
  • Meet yearly revenue goal for website and digital advertising by identifying potential advertisers and developing and implementing an overall strategy and pricing plan
  • Oversee the Career Center marketing and revenue-growth strategy
  • Manage and maintain online communities, including all CCCU networking groups, and serve as point person for inquiries and new members.
  • Maintain effective integration of iMIS for the CCCU website, Career Center and online communities, work closely with CCCU database manager, handle RiSE functionality
  • Serve as key driver in the optimization of search engine performance
    • Monitor search engine rankings and referrals
    • Monitor site traffic and user behavior.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Persons applying for the position should:

  • Have a strong appreciation for the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU and believe in the Nicene Creed
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree and possess 2-5 years of experience in digital marketing and website management
  • Possess a strong understanding of the WordPress framework
  • Have experience with MailChimp, Google Analytics and Adwords 
  • Have a proven track record for increasing followers and engaging audiences on social media for a professional business or organization
  • Experience using Advanced Custom Fields and SiteOrgin plugins
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites
  • Basic understanding of Twig template engine for PHP
  • Be comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Experience in Photoshop or Sketch
  • Have exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Have excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Have excellent oral communication skills
  • Be able to use sound judgment and work well under pressure
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Be detail-oriented, highly organized and flexible
  • Have the ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents
  • Function well as a member of a dynamic team
  • Have a desire to serve others gracefully and selflessly
