Administrative Assistant

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities seeks an Administrative Assistant that would support the work of the President and Director of Development by bringing top flight organizational, computer and writing skills to the area of fund-raising support and development projects. The CCCU is in an exciting phase of connecting new donors with our mission and we are looking for a team member that will bring skill, positivity and a love of starting new projects with determination and zeal.

The Council is a professional association of 182 campuses in 20 nations whose mission is to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education and to help our member institutions transform lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth. The Council coordinates professional development opportunities for administrators and faculty, manages U.S. based and international off-campus student programs, provides public advocacy for Christ-centered higher education and manages cooperative efforts among its member campuses (www.cccu.org).

Core Responsibilities:

 Assisting the Director of Development with fundraising projects including maintaining accurate donor contact information, and tracking communications and donations
 Assisting the President, Director of Development, and Director of Conferences & Events in the planning and executing of special donor events
 Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Director of Development and the President’s office including:
     o Fielding inquiries by phone and e-mail
     o Handling all donor related scheduling requests
     o Making and tracking travel arrangements for the Director of Development and the President, as well as any development-         related travel for the President and other senior staff
     o Assisting with correspondence that relates to donor and membership relations
     o Drafting responses and preparing original correspondence for the Director of Development’s signature
     o Maintaining all development and membership records, including keeping up-to-date and accurate contact information,               tracking communications, and accounting for all donations and major gifts
     o Coordinating on-site meetings
     o Updating information on the CCCU’s website regarding development and fund-raising initiatives
 Conducting research to assist the Director of Development in writing grant proposals or other fund-raising related projects
 Assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and editing copy
 Cultivating appropriate relationships with donors, foundations and corporations
 Preparing or editing any donor-related print materials or electronic newsletters

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Persons applying for the position should:

 Have a strong appreciation for the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU and its BestSemester programs
 Hold a bachelor’s degree and have two to three years of relevant work experience, such as supporting senior-level teams on development project
 Have exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
 Possess knowledge and understanding of non-profit organizations
 Have excellent editing and writing skills
 Be proficient in clerical skills such as filing, proofreading, typing, etc.
 Be detail-oriented, highly organized, flexible and willing to learn
 Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
 Have a strong understanding of databases and a variety of computer programs such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
 Possess good judgment and have experience making judgment calls in executive matters
 Be a team-player possessing an positive attitude and a good sense of humor
 Affirm the Nicene creed, have a commitment to Christ-centered higher-education and believe in the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU
